Net Collective was originally founded by two partners, but Filip de Waard acquired his co-founder's stake in the company several years ago. In the earlier consultancy days there were three people involved with the company, as well as an extended family of interns and freelancers. Now its just Filip with the support of several friends and advisors who help out from time to time.

Filip is also known on the internet by his initials 'fmw' and as 'dewaard'. He was born in 1985 has been professionally involved with technology and the internet since 1999. Initially, as a freelancer and since 2002 in a fulltime position running Net Collective. Filip is a Python hacker and enjoys working on challenging programming projects, as well as reading books, watching series and playing chess or computer games.
